Top Nerdy 10: The Magic School Bus Edition

EDITOR’S NOTE (April 2018)
The first two seasons of Magic School Bus Rides Again are available on Netflix.

It’s another Top Nerdy Ten! In case you haven’t heard the exciting news (seriously, brace yourself) Netflix is in the process of rebooting beloved children’s series The Magic School Bus. The rebooted Magic School Bus is slated to have 26 episodes that will be released sometime in the near future. So we’d like to throw it back and count down our top ten favourite field trips taken by The Frizz and her class from the original ’90s series. So strap on that seatbelt because it’s time to take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!

10. “Gets A Bright Idea” (Season 3, Episode 5)

I was one of those kids who wanted to try out my own version of the Pepper’s ghost illusion.

9. “Under Construction” (Season 3, Episode 4)

Engineering at its best. I always knew that bobby pins and gumdrops were the only true building materials to build strong bridges.

8. “Takes A Dive” (Season 4, Episode 13)

Symbiosis is your five-dollar word of the day, class. I swear I learned more from Ms. Frizzle than I have from any textbook in school.

7. “Inside Ralphie” (Season 1, Episode 3)

I’d really like one of those germ disassociation laser contraptions for Christmas.

6. “Plays Ball” (Season 1, Episode 10)

Newtonian physics? Baseball metaphors? See kids, physics is fun!

5. “Kicks Up A Storm” (Season 1, Episode 13)

Shicka, shicka, kaboom! Who doesn’t want to be a superhero that controls the weather?

4. “Gets Programmed” (Season 4, Episode 11)

A gazillion gigabyte hard drive AND a floppy drive. Wait, do kids these days even know what a floppy is anymore? Back in my day…

3. “The Busasaurus” (Season 3, Episode 5)

Time travel. Now that’s what I call a field trip. Also, who doesn’t want to hang with the herbivores?

2. Makes A Rainbow (Season 3, Episode 7)

That is the most epic pinball machine created. I have never wanted to be a part of a game more in my life.

1. “Gets Lost In Space” (Season 1, Episode 1)

The only planetarium open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 😉 I will tolerate Janet for our solar system. I said what I said.

What were your favourite Frizzle field trips? Leave a comment below. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to binge-watch all four seasons of the original series on Netflix (or raid my VHS collection).

‘Til next time,
