Though many believed Marvel would not be attending SDCC, it has been announced that Marvel TV will be present, including Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, and animation series panels. Fingers crossed we’ll get some DareDevil action! 😀 See more details of the panel schedule here.

Pratt Pratt is at it again! Chris visited Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge and taught the kids how to train velociraptors.
Keep spreading the positive Pratt Pratt! See more here.

The latest Marvel rumor is Ava DuVernay, of Selma fame has been approached to direct Black Panther! Well done, if so. See more details here.

Many of us have been wondering what Matt Smith’s role in Terminator is as he’s not in the trailers. He didn’t go into detail, but did drop some gems in this interview.
Hm…what not who is the question.

The epic Princess Rap Battle Daenerys vs Maleficent is up! Whoop! Whoop!

Science and sexy times, way to go kids! Way to go!
First prize (£1,000) winners of Health at TeenTech Awards, a competition that encourages 11-to-16-year-olds to create inventions that will help the world, the team of 13- and 14-year-olds Muaz Nawaz, Daanyaal Ali and Chirag Shah from the Isaac Newton Academy in London came up with the concept, calling it the ‘S.T.EYE.’ Their improved condom concept acts as a STI warning by changing colors. See more here.

Spidey has his director, Jon Watts.

Watts, who hails from the comedy world (The Onion News Network is on his resume) but whose most recent film was the Sundance thriller Cop Car, see the trailer below. He also has done extensive commercial and music video work. “Sources say Feige and Pascal were looking for someone with comedy experience but also with a perspective that would distinguish the new movies from the five already made in the past 13 years. Feige is said to have handpicked 33-year old Watts (he turns 34 Sunday), falling for the filmmaker’s take on the world of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.” via The Hollywood Reporter.  Good luck Jon! See more at EW’s write-up.

On a somber note, we lost a great composer this week. James Horner lead us through many worlds with his music, and he will be missed. See our homage here.

SPIDERMAN! Tom Holland is our new Spidey guys, and he’s a great pick. You can see his acting chops in The Impossible, stealing the movie from Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. See samples of his gymnastics training on his Instagram via Heroic Hollywood had an interesting write up on Tom’s casting, see it here.

Screen Shot 2015-06-23 at 5.08.00 PMMarvel’s official press release is below…
“Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are proud to announce that after a full worldwide casting search, Tom Holland will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the next Spider-Man film, in theaters in IMAX and 3D on July 28, 2017. The film will be directed by Jon Watts, director of “Cop Car,” the upcoming thriller that made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.Marvel and Sony Pictures, and producers Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal conducted an extensive search for both the actor and the director. The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in “The Impossible,” “Wolf Hall,” and the upcoming “In the Heart of the Sea,” and by a series of complex screen tests. Following Marvel’s tradition of working with the brightest next wave of directors, Watts also went through multiple meetings with Feige, Pascal, and the studio, before winning the job. Commenting on the announcement, Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group Chairman, said, “It’s a big day here at Sony. Kevin, Amy and their teams have done an incredible job. The Marvel process is very thorough, and that’s why their results are so outstanding. I’m confident Spider-Man will be no exception. I’ve worked with a number of up-and-coming directors who have gone on to be superstars and believe that Jon is just such an outstanding talent. For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.”
