Salutations, Curious Crowd! We had such a fantastical time at the 5th Anniversary of the Her Universe Fashion Show. If you don’t know, Her Universe is a nerd inspired chic fashion company founded by the lovely, Ashley Eckstein. We were privileged to cover last year’s fashion show as our first official press event at San Diego Comic Con and we were tickled to be back again. This year, the fashion show did not disappoint!

Our Thoughts

Last year was our first time attending the fashion show and I thought it was amazing. This year… Wooowie! This year blew last year’s fashion show right out of the water! Some how, all of this year’s creations had much more wow factor, with some of my favourites being Darkness Rising (a gender bend on Kylo Ren by Christopher Lopez), Best. Dress. Ever! – Tangled by Harmony Leiker, and Howl-In’ For You (Howl’s Moving Castle by Jane Burson). I bow down to all the designers who showcased their talents at the fashion show. Your ingenuity and creativity are impressive and I strive to one day be half as good as y’all when I create my cosplay costumes.

Just like last year, we got a look at the latest Her Universe collaboration with Hot Topic. My inner Disnerd was incredible excited to see the Destination Disney collection designed by the winners from last year’s Her Universe Fashion Show. This year, the newest crop of designers (with a few returning) came out with incredibly complex and beautiful couture creations. While it was incredibly difficult to pick a favourite, I have to say the Okoye inspired red dress caught my eye. I also really enjoyed the junior designer showcase celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the PowerPuff Girls. Highlight of course was seeing Jodie Whittaker strut down the white runway, looking fierce as all get out. Relive all of the shiny moments in our photo gallery.
