Planning a road trip to Comic-Con is easier than you think. So many people are intimidated by the thought of having to drive somewhere unfamiliar, but following these simple tips will help make your trip go as smoothly as possible.

Tips For Planning The Ultimate Comic Con Road Trip

Know When And Where It Is

First things first, do your research. Make sure that the information you are using is up to date because different conventions are located in different cities and at different times of the year. Also, this will ensure that nothing occurs during the trip that will disappoint you or cost extra money! Check out the Convention website for exact dates if they haven’t already been released yet.

Car Selection

One of the most important things you need to consider is what kind of car you will use for your road trip. Although it is undoubtedly possible to undertake a successful road trip in any type of vehicle, some cars are definitely better suited than others.

This is an open category, so you can choose anything from a convertible, an SUV, or even one of those new-fangled hover cars if you want! But make sure whoever drives has their license.

Should you and your group decide on road tripping with an SUV or bus, make sure that the vehicle has insurance and the relevant contact information of trustworthy truck accident lawyers in case of an accident. Also, make sure you have a good roadside emergency kit in your boot. This handy-dandy roadside emergency kit would come complete with everything you need to help yourself and other members of the group if anything terrible were to happen! It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Bring A Map

While GPS is great, it’s always best to be aware of where you are at all times. That way, if anything happens en route, you can still get help or find another route around the problem. Plus, having a physical map is better than pixelated images on a screen. Also, make sure everyone has a copy of the road trip map.

Don’t Drink And Drive!

This is one of the most important rules for traveling in any form, especially during Comic-Con weekend. There will be hundreds (if not thousands) of people trying to head home after the event ends at 7 pm. If someone tries to drive under the influence, they’ll most likely get caught by police officers who are on patrol or, even worse, end up in an accident. So please don’t drink and drive!

Gas, Food & Bathroom Stops

Don’t forget to factor in food costs, hotel fees if you plan on staying overnight, and everywhere else you plan on stopping during the trip. After everything has been added up, it may seem as if hotel rooms or gas will be out of your price range.

Once you’ve established how far your money will take you each day, figure out roughly how long it will take you to get from place to place. A road trip to Comic-Con can vary in length depending on your starting location, how much money you have, and whether or not you plan on stopping at any attractions along the way.

Never forget to bring plenty of water, snacks rich in protein, and an ’emergency kit.’ This should be a separate bag that contains anything you may need during your trip, including everything from anti-nausea pills to nail clippers. The one thing that is highly suggested putting in this bag is something like ibuprofen since it’s much more effective than aspirin at mitigating the symptoms of car sickness.

Stop For Photos

If there’s one thing people can’t stop taking pictures of, it’s the amazing sights and roads along the way to and from Comic-Con! So don’t forget to document your epic road trip – you’ll never forget those memories. Just make sure not to take pictures while driving; keep your eyes on the road or let someone else do the driving. You can always review those photos when you get home.

Decide What To Dress Up As For Comic-Con

Whether you like the idea of dressing up as a character from one of your favorite TV shows and movies, or whether you want to strike out on your own and create an entirely new cosplay identity, it’s always best to plan ahead.

Have Fun!

Don’t let all of these tips overwhelm you, though! Just remember how fun Comic-Con is and take things slow; by doing so, you’ll make sure your road trip goes exactly as planned and not a moment faster. Good luck and happy planning!
