One of my favorite Houston spots, the East End Studio Gallery had their opening for Major Tom’s Life on Mars, a David Bowie Tribute Show. There have been a number of tribute events in H-town for David Bowie and understandably so! We could never truly do a legend justice, but it is always great to see artists and other creatives come together and express their respects in different mediums. Side note, the number of pieces I wanted to purchase was ridiculous! See a few of my favorites below.
Major Tom Artwork
First up, “We can be Heroes” by Rafael Villareal, Acrylic on Canvas. I like to call this ZiggyHulk.
“Labyrinth” will always have a soft spot in my heart, so I had to feature these pieces for the Goblin King and Sarah.

“Labyrinth” by Whitney Barrett & “Jareth” by Fernando Guel
“Starman” by Magdalena Abrego was a great pattern; I felt this would make awesome leggings! Magdalena, get on that!
This collection was super fun and nerdy! Bowie as different nerd culture characters from Mr. J to 10 or Ren! Well done David Anderson.
These cute Starman and Hello Ziggy by Brittany Falcon.
This ridiculously detailed painting of Ziggy by Mike Esparza would be amazing on any wall and this designical “Fame” painting by Sergio Cornejo was an interesting one.
Major Tom Vendors
There was an awesome, local vendor there. This is Yamin Cespedes, all of his jewelry is hand made and stunning! I will be diving into a Wonder Woman bracelet perhaps. He makes custom pieces too if you have a request! You can find Yamin & Sid Rebel on Facebook and website here.
The gallery shop featured some more great pendants from BlueOneThirty, you can find more info on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
I did make note there were some prints available from previous exhibits, like Drawn to be Bad! The exhibit closes March 19th, so make your way over and enjoy some local talent and get yourself some prints!
Can’t wait until the next exhibit!
Nerd on!
