Nerdie Foodie: The Soft Food Diet

Welcome Nerdie Foodies to the final installment of our Road to Recovery series! This week we are looking at soft food options that takes you one step closer to getting back to solid food. Let’s check out these yummy recipes!

Sleepy Hollow Slapjacks (Gluten Free)

Slapjacks, also known as pancakes should be soft enough for consumption. Just make sure that it doesn’t have too much of a crispness to it when you cook it if you’re not allowed to have anything super crunchy. Bryt (from In Literature) shares with us this gluten free recipe that is made with buckwheat! Check out the recipe below and the written version here!

Secret Ingredient Soup

You can’t go wrong with soup or noodles. But put them together and you can end up with something similar to Mr. Ping’s secret ingredient soup! Andrew Rea (from Binging with Babish) shares with us his take on the secret ingredient soup. Check out the tutorial below!

Dragon Dumplings

While we’re on a Kung Fu Panda roll, dumplings are another great soft food idea as not all dumplings are pan-fried. It can be boiled or steamed and will be soft enough to chew. Thanks to Jimmy Wong and his family (from Feast of Fiction) for sharing their recipe for this delicious and popular Asian New Year dish! Check out the video below for the tutorial!

And if you can’t wait overnight for the dough to set, check out this dumpling recipe by one of my favourite chefs on YouTube, Chef Adam Liaw, below for a dumpling recipe that can be made and eaten on the same day!

Julia Child’s Beouf Bourguignon

Stews. Can’t go wrong with a stew. And why not try a French classic the Julia Child’s way? This is another great recipe tutorial from Binging with Babish, but it does require some preparation and of course, butter. Check out the video tutorial below and bring out your inner Julia!

Butterbeer Pot de Crème

And finally, to round out our selection of dishes: dessert. You can’t forget about dessert. Of course, being a fan of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I couldn’t resist adding in this scrumptious recipe. Thanks to Deanna (from Feast of Starlight), she shares with us her inspired recipe here!
