Nerdie Foodie: Road to Recovery – Soups

Hello Nerdie Foodies to a brand new Nerdie Foodie post! This Nerdie Foodie recently had dental surgery so it’s been all about the liquid/mush diet lately. So, I thought, why not turn that into a post for other nerds to try their hand at food prep aside from apple sauce, Jello and ice cream (although, there is nothing wrong with any of these). This week is going to be all about soup. Let’s go!

Cinderella’s Pumpkin Soup

Who doesn’t love a good squash soup when it’s getting closer to winter and you’re stuck at home recovering? Olivia (from Olivia’s Cuisine) shares with us her Cinderella inspired pumpkin soup recipe. Check it out here!

Rapunzel’s Hazelnut Soup

You can’t go wrong with Rapunzel’s hazelnut soup. It’s hearty and healthy all at the same time! Amanda (from The Kitcheneer) shares with us her inspired hazelnut soup recipe here! It looks really tasty and I would love to try making this myself!

The Leaky Cauldron’s Pea Soup

This soup requires some overnight prep work (rehydrating the split peas), but it will be well worth the effort. Any lentil soup can be tasty if it’s seasoned well. Deanna (from Feast of Starlight) has done just that. Check out their recipe here!

Kreacher’s French Onion Soup

I love a good French Onion soup, and Kreacher’s version looks delightful thanks to Bryt (from In Literature). Check out her inspired recipe here! Honestly, if I was not recovering from surgery, I would totally be all over that giant crouton alone. Yum!

Wizarding World English Ale and Cheese Soup

Love cheese, ale and soup? Then this decadent soup is for you! As Simply Inspired Meals found out, this soup is very much based on personal preferences when it comes to the cheese and ale flavours and you may end up having to make a couple versions of this soup to find what tastes good to you. Check out the recipe here!

As always, modify the recipes as needed to suit your post-op orders. If you’re like me and you’re not allowed any booze, choose the recipes that do not require alcohol or make sure that the alcohol is completely cooked off and you’re left with the flavour. Next week, smoothies and milkshakes.

‘Til next time,
