This is a special Nerdie Foodie as we’ll be checking out all the places that Jams and her family went to eat during their fun-filled nerdalicious trip to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. I’ve been drooling over all the photos and you will too! This is a Nerdie Foodie Takeover. Take it away Jams!
Hollywood Studios
I will say this a hundred times if I have to: Eat at Woody’s Lunchbox! It can be difficult to find a seat so you’ll need to stand around like a hawk waiting for someone to leave their table, but the food is worth it!
We got the chocolate hazelnut lunch box tart which is coated in maple fondant and candied bacon. So good! This is like what Pop Tarts wish they could be! Also delicious was the Mystic Portal Punch which is POWERade Mountain Berry Blast blended with flavors of lemon-lime and tangerine. So refreshing!
Rich ordered the BBQ Brisket Melt with a side of potato barrels. This was so good! He would definitely go back there for more.
I order the grilled three-cheese sandwich and potato barrels. This was the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had in my life…no joke.
To cool off, Aylah got a Mickey Premium Bar. We ate a lot of these things over the course of our trip but we got to eat them for free later that evening at the After Hours Event!
Probably the most disappointing snack we ate was the churro. I have heard that churros are not as good at Walt Disney World as they are at Disneyland. That is correct.
Animal Kingdom
Out of all the Disney Parks, the food here was our favorite, hands down. We were kind of surprised because we thought for sure it would be Epcot. I especially want to emphasize how delicious the food is in Pandora.
Pandora
My favorite drink was the Night Blossom at Pongu Pongu. This is a slushy drink consisting of layers of apple and dessert pear limeade, topped with passion fruit boba balls. I even got the souvenir cup and the glowing Unadelta Seed! But you can get the drink in a regular cup without the seed to save some money.
We went back to Pongu Pongu and had another Night Blossom, but this time with a Pongu Lumpia which is a pineapple cream cheese spring roll. I know that might sound a little strange but it was so delicious!
Satu’li Canteen
At Satu’li Canteen we got these delicious desserts. On the left is the chocolate cake with a crunchy cookie layer and banana cream topping. On the right is the Blueberry cream cheese mousse. Both desserts were absolutely delicious!
Rich does not have an adventurous pallet so he ordered the cheese quesadilla from the kids’ menu.
Wow! I cannot talk enough about how much I enjoyed this meal at Satu’li Canteen! With the bowl meals you select your protein, your base, and the sauce. I got the Slow-Roasted Grilled Beef bowl with noodles and the cream herb sauce. This is so so delicious, I highly recommend!
Discovery Island
For lunch that day we ate at Eight Spoons Cafe on Discovery Island. Rich got the Baked Macaroni and Cheese with Pulled Pork, and I got the Baked Macaroni and Cheese with shrimp and sweet chili sauce. Both of these were very delicious! That mac and cheese was the best mac and cheese we had the whole entire trip, no joke.
Universal/Islands of Adventure
Other than the Wizarding World, there really wasn’t much in the way of food we were planning to try in Universal. Before you leave you NEED to visit Honeyduke’s! I got a pumpkin pasty which tasted like a pumpkin pie calzone. It was quite delicious! We also bought a box of fudge which was buy 4 pieces get 2 free, so why not? We got two pieces of mint chocolate, a piece of chocolate cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter, butterbeer, and a piece of chocolate caramel. The only flavor I don’t recommend is the chocolate cheesecake. I was disappointed because I didn’t taste a cheesy cheesecake flavor like I wanted. However, the butterbeer fudge was my favorite overall!
And of course no visit to the Wizarding World is complete without Butterbeer! We got ours frozen!
One restaurant I will advise you to stay away from is the Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendus. The food here was just not good. It was bland and dry. We got the wings and fries. The fries weren’t bad, I’ll give them that. But the chicken was just really bad. It was a place to escape during a pretty rough rain storm though.
In case anyone is wondering, we did end up packing our own food for Aylah due to her sensory issues and intolerances. Disney and Universal both were fine with this. The only thing you cannot bring in is glass containers, alcohol, or large hard coolers. Also I wanted to give a shoutout to the Burger King on Universal City Walk because they were very accommodating for Aylah as we had only packed her lunch and weren’t quite sure what to give her for dinner. They were able to make something special just for her!
Wow! What did y’all think of those places Curious Crowd? Did those look delicious or what! This is just the beginning of Jams’ Nerdie Foodie adventure. Stay tuned for Part 2 this afternoon!
Stay Nerdalicious!
