The bento boxed lunch that is inspired by the Japanese has finally made its way over here over the last few years. Granted weâre more about having healthy and fun lunches and are quick and easy to make (with a bit of prep work and/or use of leftovers) versus the Japanese mothers whom have such high expectations for not only themselves but also from their kids to have characters make an appearance at lunch time. But never the less, itâs always a good day when our nerdlings find joy in eating. Letâs see what weâve got!
Jen’s Pick:Â Sushi, Sandwiches, and Leftovers Oh My!
1) Animal Sandwiches
I love sandwiches. So as a kid, to open their lunch box (or your own) and they see their sandwich in the shape of an animal is a thrill! Dominque Moran shows us how to spruce up our sandwiches three different ways! Check out the video below!
2) Leftovers
You have leftovers from dinner and you want to bring it with you for lunch. Why not jazz it up a bit so youâre (and your nerdling) are not too bored with the same thing. Beth Le Manche, from Entertaining With Beth, shows us how to use up that leftover roast chicken! Check out the video below!
3) SushiÂ
If sushi and sandwiches were to mash up together they would turn into these fun sushi sandwiches from Catherine of Weelicious! You really can put anything in this just like regular sushi and sandwiches. Check out the video below for some inspiration!
4) Sandwich BagsÂ
And if you arenât creative enough to cut out all those eyes and shapes for lunch but you have a few artistic skills with markers, youâd get the parent of the year award with this DIY cheat. David LaFerriere is an artist. So instead of trying to create characters out of his kidsâ sandwiches, he decided to keep the sandwich in itâs classic form and instead draw pictures on the sandwich bags themselves and thus giving it some personality. Check out his collection here and read the article here!
Roni’s Pick: BlooballoonÂ
If you’re looking for lunch ideas for your nerdlings, or just a beautiful Instagram feed, blooballoon is for you. Linda happens to be one of the most wonderful people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, and her kiddos are the luckiest little boys in the world. She has made lunch time an event and inspires us to take pride in meal time.
Rach’s Pick: Star Wars
This one is Rachâs find. A little bit of galactic inspiration for that Star Wars fan in your life! Glory, from Gloryâs Mischief, shows us how we can add a bit of Star Wars magic into our lunches. Check it out here! She also has a whole board of inspirational ideas on her Pinterest page here!
