Aloha Nerdie Foodies! Disney’s Moana is coming to theatres in 5 DAYS!!! Not that you can tell that I’m excited for this movie to come out. Okay that’s a total lie, I am super excited to see a new Disney movie that’s about the Polynesian culture featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Auli’i Cravalho, and the musical stylings of Lin-Manuel Miranda! So, of course you need to have some sort of mini luau-esque party to celebrate the premiere of Moana the movie!
Moana’s Hei Hei
If you are one of those creative types and can make those fancy nerdy bento box lunches, why not try your hand at making one of the characters from the movie into a snack? Mary Walker from Just Plum Crazy, shows us how to make a Hei Hei snack plate here! It actually does look like the cute rooster in the movie. Just sayin’.
Crazy for coconuts?? Berrysprite has a super quick and yummy recipe for a coconut dessert! It really does have the same texture as Jello, but it so good because of all that coconut milk. Check out the recipe here!
Anyone who has been to Hawai’i should know about The Honolulu Cookie Company cookies. They are one of the most delicious shortbread cookies. Ever. I seriously wish I could bring back batches of them every time I go visit Hawai’i (which is not often – check out my Hawaiian Nerdventures here and here). So, you can see why I’m super happy to have discovered Jes Lahay’s Whisk + Wander blog where she shares with us a copycat recipe! They’re even shaped like mini pineapples! Check out the recipe here!
Nothing says “party” without a variety of drinks! For the kiddos, Olfa Turki from Our Family World shares with us her version of Moana punch featuring mango and pineapple juice, strawberries, and coconuts! Check out the recipe here!
And of course, with the kids having a ton of fruit punch options for your luau, we can’t forget about the really big kids *cough* Adults *cough*. Carol Jones, from All Mommy Wants, shares with us her cocktail recipe called The Pacific Breeze. Check out this lovely concoction of coconuts, pineapples and limes here!
And there you have it! A festive luau-esque party for a special movie! I hope you enjoy the show!
‘Til next time,
