Nerdie Foodies, October has arrived and Fall is in full swing. You know what that means: pumpkin spice is in all the coffee shops, Thanksgiving is just around the corner (for us Canadians) and Halloween just down the road! That’s what I like to call it the EPL: Everything Pumpkin Life. Let’s face it, everything is about the pumpkins around this time of year, namely Harry Potter and Starbucks. Let’s check out a few recipes to get us into the full swing of EPL!
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
When we first hear or see the work pumpkin, most coffee lovers think of the one that started it all: Starbucks. Only this time coffee nerds, this PSL (pumpkin spice latte for those of you not in the know) is a Nerdie Foodie’s dream – cupcake form! Thanks to Nerdy Nummies, we can now try it ourselves. Hagrid’s Pumpkin Patch Rock Cakes
What a better way to pair up your PSL cupcakes than these pumpkin rock cakes for tea time? Thanks to Amanda (of Peppers and Pennies), I’ve learned something new too! Apparently, rock cakes are a staple food/snack item in the UK due to the fact that it can be made cheaply (and don’t worry, you won’t have Hagrid making these) and are similar to scones. Pumpkin Pasties
If you love dessert pastries of all kinds, this recipe is for you. Chelsey (of Tastefully Eclectic) always thought of the Wizarding World’s pumpkin pasties as a soft and sweet dessert versus what other Harry Potter fans have created which is the hand pie, empanada-styled pumpkin pasties. Her version looks super adorable and it reminds me of the crustless, round, PB and J sandwiches. If you like those, check out her recipe here! They are truly beautiful.

Sweet Pumpkin Soup
Pumpkin soup (or any squash soup for that matter) tastes so hearty and filling to keep one warm on a cold Fall day. Deanna (of Feast of Starlight) gives us her Game of Thrones inspired recipe for Arya’s sweet pumpkin soup. That’s right, Game of Thrones! Didn’t see that one coming did ya? Pumpkin Fizz
We have to have something refreshing for all the yummy pumpkin treats, so why not enjoy a refreshing beverage such as the pumpkin fizz a la Harry Potter? K.T. Crownhill (of Art of Wizardry) gives us a pumpkin drink that is refreshing and light (thanks to the carbonation) and it looks fantastic in a tall skinny glass. Check out the recipe here!
