Greetings Nerdie Foodies! By the time this post reaches your device screens, I will be travelling to Houston, getting fat and eating all the food. But! This does not stop me from giving y’all a brand new Nerdie Foodie post! This week is all about THE vampire slayer (sorry Twilight fans) Buffy, as her birthday is just around the corner on January 19th. What a better way to celebrate than with some food and drink? Time to bring on the nostalgia of the 90s. Let’s go!
Spike’s Flowering Onion
We are starting off this party with a couple creations from Spike. Also known as a blooming onion, this party appetizer is one for the lovers of fried food. Diana (from Fiction Kitchen) shares with us her take on Spike’s dish and does it look beautifully delicious! Check out the recipe here!
Spike’s Spicy Wings
If you want something with more kick and sass, these wings will definitely bring it up a notch for your tastebuds! This is another recipe from Fiction Kitchen’s Diana, check out this kickass recipe here! Pretty sure you won’t be disappointment.
“Mr. Pointy” Sugar Cookies

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Floats
If you really want the nostalgic factor, go for an ice cream float. Yet, there is one better, a Buffy inspired ice cream float! Amanda Vinson (from The Daily Crate) has you covered. Check out her fun and Halloween-esque recipe here for a sweet treat that’s great for kids and adults alike!
The Buffy Punch
This one is definitely one for the adults! Casey Barber (from Good. Food. Stories.) has created this fun boozy drink that has a bit of historical kick to it. Just a side note, that this recipe requires you to chill the brew overnight, so plan ahead. Check out the recipe here!
And finally, the bartender over at the Secret of the Booze Youtube channel have concocted this wonderfully “bloody” alcoholic drink for us big kids (aka. adults) to enjoy! Check out this vodka based drink tutorial below!
