On this day in 1996, Pokemon Red and Green was first released in Japan! Now Pokemon fans celebrate Pokemon Day on February 27th. There are many fun ways to celebrate and share the Pokemon love. Today I’m going to touch upon just a few ways to Celebrate Pokemon Day!
How to Celebrate Pokemon Day!
Pokemon Go
If you weren’t already aware, Pokemon Go is celebrating Pokemon Day February 26-28 1:00 p.m. PST. To celebrate this event Pokemon trainers can encounter Pokemon from the Kanto region in the wild and in raids. Pikachu and Eevee will also make special appearances wearing flower crowns, and trainers may even encounter Shiny Rattata and Shiny Pidgey! Read more about the event here.
Trade & Play Day
Those who still enjoy playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game won’t be left out of the fun. The latest expansion to the Pokemon TCG is Sun & Moon – Team Up. Select Best Buy and Gamestop locations held a meetup on February 23-24 with a special oversize booster pack, and players were able to trade cards with other attendees. Even if you missed this event, getting together with a group of friends to play some good ol’ Pokemon TCG can be a lot of fun! You may even be able to find Pokemon TCG groups on Facebook, or your local hobby and game shop! Learn more about the Trade & Play Day event here.
Make Pokemon
If you’re a crafty Pokemon trainer, perhaps you’d like to figure out how to make your own Pokemon. One way is by making them out of pompoms! You can learn how it’s done in Pompom Pokemon, a book by Sachiko Susa. This book contains 32 patterns along with photographs and instructions. Gotta make ‘em all!
Wear the Pokemon
One way Pokemon players love to show off their passion is in what they wear. The Pokemon Company has teamed up with 10.Deep for its first ever U.S. streetwear apparel collaboration. The collection includes hoodies, crewnecks, and long-sleeved t-shirts featuring Pokemon. Fans can pick up the merch at 10.Deep’s New York City flagship pop-up as well as 10Deep.com starting today! Select retailers will also receive a wider release of the line. See more on 10.DeepXPokemon here!
Watch the Pokemon
If you don’t already have a way to watch all of Pokemon, fear not! You can watch your favorite Pokemon episodes, movies, and more on the Pokemon TV app! The app is available for many mobile devices as weel as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and select smart TVs. The best part? You can watch and re-watch as much as you like, for FREE! Find out more here.

Every good Pokemon trainer is gonna need to stop for some snacks at some point, so be sure to stop by again tomorrow to see what Jen has whipped up for Nerdie Foodie!
