Although the 501st Legion has been featured before on Nerdy Curiosities (see Nerd It Forward: Katie Goldman & the 501st Legion), we thought that in celebration of Star Wars week, we’d put the spotlight back on the lighter side of the Dark side.
Prior to the premiere of The Force Awakens (no spoilers until at least next week, please and thanks), R2D2 and Vader were joined by Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, to bring the force and some cheer to very special kids at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Star Wars Visits the Kids at CHLAA hospital full of Padawans … trained by Luke Skywalker! Huge thanks to Lucasfilm, Mark Hamill, Steven Blum, and the The 501st Legion for visiting the kids at CHLA. Still smiling, our kids are. Yeesssssss. #ForceForChange

The 501st Legion has also played a pivotal role in support of Variety, the Children’s Charity over the years, joining Variety volunteers at Vancouver’s Fan Expo to help with the charity’s Gold Heart initiative.
So the highest of nerd fives to the 501st Legion for all the work they do and for using the Force for good.
Nerd it forward,
Rach
