I remember as a little girl being very excited to receive Christmas cards in the mail. Paper presents that I was able to be open before Santa arrived. It was a big deal for me. For some, Christmas cards are just a novelty, tossed after being received. But for others, it’s a simple reminder that somebody out there cares about them.
Every year, the American Red Cross runs their Holiday Mail For Heroes campaign, where local chapters collect Christmas cards to be delivered to service members and veterans, real life superheroes. It warms my heart to see communities coming together in the spirit of giving. It may not seem like much, but a little holiday cheer goes a long way.

There may still be time to participate, check your local Red Cross chapter for more details.
