Last week our favourite Science Guy, Bill Nye, dove into the Shark Tank to raise awareness for Global Citizen and their initiative to end extreme poverty.

All jokes aside, Bill relayed some startling facts about the current poverty epidemic: “more than one in three people on earth live in extreme poverty” and “1 billion of them are children”.
The Global Citizen Festival which took place in NYC this past weekend was hosted by Bill and he was joined by Chelsea Handler, Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris and a slew of musical guests. According to Global Citizen, the event was said to have helped 199 million lives around the world.
