You don’t typically think of Buffy Fashion when you hear the word fashion, I know. One show that really spoke to me in my teenage years, and still means as much to me today, is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My first binge-watching experience was Buffy. I wanted to dress like Buffy. I cried with Buffy. I was really more of a Willow myself but Buffy, the show, really meant a lot to me. I can’t believe that this March 10th, Buffy the Vampire Slayer will be 20 years old!
Buffy Fashion
Each of the Scoobys had his or her own challenges, strengths, and growth throughout the seasons. One thing that was not great about Buffy was the fashion. I mean it was the late 90’s but…man that show had some awkward fashion. It was really hard to pin down each character’s fashion style precisely but I decided to focus on the original Scoobys (Buffy, Willow, Xander, and Cordelia) and their Season One looks.
Buffy
Buffy typically wore miniskirts with a white or black top, and knee high boots. Alternatively she would often wear tank tops and leather pants. Always heels. Best shoes for fighting vampires.
High Waisted Knit Pencil Skirt in Cabernet from Express
Fitted 2-Way Layering Tank from Old Navy in bright white
WearGuard Women’s Short-Sleeve Poplin Shirt in White from Aramark
Cognac Women’s Knee-High Leather High Heel Boot from Shiekh Shoes
Willow
Willow’s style was very eccentric. Typically she wore oversized loud sweaters, floral print skirts, tights, and sneakers. She was also often seen wearing jumpers or overalls. Willow’s fashion was actually pretty similar to how I dressed in middle school/Junior High. Those were very awkward years…
Women’s Petite Supima Stripe Cardigan Sweater from Land’s End in Light Persian Rose
Floral Charlotte Russe Skater Skirt from Posh Mark (There are several other patterns and sizes of floral skater skirts available)
Berkshire Luxe Opaque Control Top Hosiery in brown from Macy’s
Old Skool Canvas Formula One by VANS from Shoeteria
Xander
Xander’s style you could describe as “Nerdy Old Man” chic. He typically wore some kind of printed button up shirt over a t-shirt, and plaid or corduroy pants with skater sneakers. ICYMI I actually met Nicholas Brendan at VTCC 2015!
Vintage All-Over Flower Print Long Sleeve Shirt from Rose Wholesale
Michael Strahan Brown Tic Plaid Flat-Front Suit Pants from JC Penney
Hanes 5590 Tagless T-Shirt w/Pocket in Black from Wordans
Vans Old Skool Brown Skate Shoes (Mens) from Zumiez
Cordelia
Cordelia’s style was very label oriented. You would never catch Cordelia seeing the softer side of Sears. Cordelia’s style was very similar to Buffy’s but slightly more preppy. She often wore turtleneck or mock neck sweaters and skirts. Sometimes she would even tie a sweater around her shoulders. And remember those black chunky heels we all wore in the 90’s?
Cashmere Sleeveless Turtleneck Sweater in Charcoal Heather from Saks Off Fifth
Short Skirt Leopard Print from H&M
Parody Platform Block Heels in Black from ASOS
