Nerdie Foodie: 2017 Foodie Inspirations

The weather outside is still snowy, icy, and just dang cold on this side of the pond! And this Nerdie Foodie is still craving for more comfort foods! And this time, I have some help from all the other NC Ladies! The following are all recipes that we would love to get our hands on. Let’s check out all the goodies!

Jen’s Pick #1: Homemade Soups

When it comes to winter, soup come to mind to keep us warm on the inside! Sarah Lynn Cauchon, The Domestic Geek, shares with us not one, but THREE different homemade soups! Not going to lie, my heart is set on the carrot ginger soup! Check out the video below!

Jen’s Pick #2: Panda Macarons

Let’s face it, I was never good at choosing just one thing. Besides, what goes better with soup than something delicious for dessert? How about Panda macarons?? These super adorable character macarons are from the creative minds of Honey & Butter. I still need to go out to Cali and find them! Check out this how-to video and you too can create your own Panda macarons at home!

Roni’s Pick: Sushi Cake

This would undeniably be my dream celebratory cake for any occasion. I’m a huge fan of salmon and sushi in general, so this is perfect. It’s honestly a great alternative for any seafood lover who isn’t necessarily a fan of sweets. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of any dessert, but this sushi cake would be doing me a favor. High quality ingredients of course, and to be left not feeling like a giant cow after eating it? Win, win, done and done!

Jams’ Pick: Unicorn Cheesecake

Let’s be honest here. I normally don’t have a sweet tooth. On occasion I love to nibble on some chocolate, and I do have a Dean Winchester level obsession with pie, but to really win me over I tend toward the starchy, cheesy, and bacon-y side. However, I do LOVE cheesecake! I also love unicorns! Combine the two? Pure magic. Check out this delectable morsel from Delish.

Rach’s Pick: Pokemon Pokebowls!

One of the biggest food trends is the rise of poke (a popular Hawaiian appetizer with fresh raw fish as its star) and when I came across Noelle’s (Little Miss Nerd Chef) recipe for Pokemon Pokebowls, I just had to share. If you’re a seafood lover like I am, you cannot go wrong with ahi, ponzu, and crab. Yum!

Also check out Ryen’s (VlogAfterCollege) take on the Pokebowl! Enjoy 🙂

And there you have it folks! I learned something this week along with y’all. Rach and Roni love seafood, while Jams and I have a soft spot for dessert and the savoury! What are your foodie inspirations and cravings? Let us know in the comments below! I’d love to see what other creativity there is out there when it comes to creating beautiful food!

‘Til next time,

Stay nerdalicious!
